Burning Man 2011

My second Burning Man was as expected another great and unique experience.
I took the risk of screwing-up my beloved Canon G12. But the risk was worth it. This event is so amazing for the eyes (and for the rest) that it is an infinite source of inspiration for photographs.

New Drawing of Maliki character

Another drawing I made this WE... a 'suggestive' version of Maliki and her imaginary friends...

Big credit to Maliki Author ( http://www.maliki.com/ ).

I indeed recently found out that this artist provides many interesting techniques for high quality Manga (a trend in the French Comics) and such a nice style, that I started to use his work as an exercise for my own ability to draw. This is why I borrowed his characters.
My plan is to keep learning through his work until I get good enough to do more personal stuff...

Sketch

I came back to drawing.
This time I want to try the "manga" style.
First draft on paper, then quickly going back to the computer after a scan.
The rest is layered work.

Here are the few steps :

First draft from paper:

Outlining:

Shading

Diffuse Color:

Then I removed the draft layer and added all these new layers together, with a lower layer for the background... et voila.

I found these two web sites very good for this style :
In fact I confess that I am plagiarize them for my training in drawing. For example this character comes from Maliki...

Week-End at San Francisco in the Marriott

We took one night at the Marriott for this WE. Just to do nothing and walk around in the streets. The next day we went to the Academy of Science Museum, located in the Golden-gate Park. Nice place but unfortunately way too crowded. I'd say that this place is certainly not the right museum for 2 years old kid.

I took the opportunity to test Retro-Camera tool on my Atrix Smartphone. I was amazed to see that the old styles gave me some inspiration.

Here is the album...
